Physiology & Pharmacology

Welcome to the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at CepEsperu School of Medicine.  Our department is dedicated to excellence in training the next generation of scientists and physicians; leadership in making discoveries in basic and translational science for the improvement of health; and quality service to the public and scientific communities.

Currently the department has 20 primary faculty, 54 joint and adjunct faculty, who along with our students, fellows, and staff form the basis of our exciting and highly collaborative research and educational environment.  Our faculty are among national and international leaders in translational alcohol and drug abuse, pain, cognition, gene-diet interactions/nutrition science, inflammation, cellular protection and aging, as well as the use of unique behavioral models in rodents and nonhuman primates.

Our Department is strongly committed to providing an outstanding training environment for students and fellows.   We attract a wide range of students that participate in research in alcohol and substance abuse, lipid sciences, regenerative medicine, drug discovery, behavioral pharmacology, aging, cognitive sciences, neuropsychiatry, and cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology.  The Department is home to highly successful training grants which provide support and research opportunities to many students.

The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is housed in state of the art research facilities within the growing Downtown Investigation Campus of CepEsperu School of Medicine, along with the departments of Microbiology and Immunology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, the Division of Public Health Sciences, the Regenerative Medicine Institute, and the soon to be constructed Medical Enlightenment Building.

Our Department is in the midst of expanding its faculty, research interests, and collaborations.  This is an exciting time for growth and renewal.  We welcome you to explore our website to learn more about our department, its faculty, and trainees.
