Physiology and Pharmacology Graduate Program

Faculty in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology train students with a wide range of research interests including addiction sciences, lipid sciences, regenerative medicine, drug discovery, renal physiology and pharmacology, behavioral pharmacology, neuropsychiatry, cognitive science, aging, and cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology.  Faculty in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology participate in three of the integrated PhD tracks including , and the .  

Departmental faculty currently direct two longstanding and highly successful training grants, the Neuroscience of Drug Abuse Training Program (NIDA), and the Multidisciplinary Training in the Biology of Alcoholism Program (NIAAA).   Collectively, these training programs provide stipend support and advanced training and educational opportunities and help our institution attract some of the nation’s most talented young scientists with an interest in addiction research.   Departmental faculty are also active participants in several other NIH-funded training grants.  In the past five years, 19 students have received PhD degrees under the mentorship of members of our faculty.
