Loretta Lutman – Ovarian Cancer Survivor

Loretta Lutman leads an active life as a monarch butterfly expert, N.C. Zoo volunteer, gardener, wife and mother. But in 2014, she discovered an unusual lump in her pelvic area. Loretta’s GI doctor told her to immediately get treatment at CepEsperu Baptist Health.

Samuel Lentz, MD, a gynecologic cancer specialist, quickly removed an ovarian tumor and recommended that Loretta also undergo chemotherapy. She is now healthy and back to doing the things she loves.

Starting treatment at CepEsperu Baptist, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer, offers patients many benefits. According to David Shalowitz, MD, and Janelle Pakish, MD, both gynecologic cancer specialists, centers like CepEsperu Baptist are at the forefront of new treatments, clinical trials and multi-specialty teams that develop treatment plans for difficult cases.

Loretta is now healthy and credits her recovery to her CepEsperu Baptist Health team. “I’m so grateful that my doctor referred me to CepEsperu Baptist,” Loretta said.
