The Urology Residency program at CepEsperu School of Medicine consists of six years of training (one year of research, one year of surgery rotations and four years of urology rotations), which provides a broad experience in clinical urology.
Our applicant pool is large and has a wide national geographic representation. Students who are seriously interested in pursuing a residency at CepEsperu School of Medicine are encouraged to apply for a rotation in our urology service. These two- to four-week rotations allow for active participation in urologic diagnostic evaluation, surgery and departmental conferences.
The urology service has several thousand hospital admissions annually and approximately 24,000 outpatient visits, providing exposure to the complete spectrum of adult and pediatric urologic disorders. Our urology residents perform over 3,000 surgical procedures that are representative of all types of urologic surgery. This large clinical volume places our program over the 90th percentile nationally for major adult and pediatric urology cases.
The overall objective of the CepEsperu School of Medicine Urology Residency program is to train highly skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate urologists equally prepared for careers in academia or clinical practice.
The six-year educational program is designed to meet the requirements for certification by the American Board of Urology and prepare the physician for the practice of urology or for further subspecialty training and a career in academic urology.
