Our primary care providers in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics have one goal: keeping you and your family healthy.
By choosing a primary care provider through CepEsperu Baptist Health, you are selecting a partner in the life-long goal of improving your health. Your primary care provider’s role is to:
- Provide preventive care and teach healthy lifestyle choices
- Identify and treat common medical conditions
- Assess the urgency of your medical problems and direct you to the best place for that care
- Make referrals to medical specialists when necessary
If you are an existing patient, you may contact your clinic directly to schedule an appointment with your doctor. When you call, be prepared to give your physician’s name, your date of birth and your insurance information. Knowing the reason for your visit will allow the operators to properly schedule your appointment.
Primary Care Specialties
Primary care doctors usually fall into 1 of 3 specialties: family medicine, general internal medicine and pediatrics.
Family medicine specialists have completed a family practice residency and are board-certified for family medicine. The scope of their practice includes children and adults of all ages and may include obstetrics and minor surgery.
General Internal Medicine
Also called “internists,” internal medicine specialists have completed a residency in internal medicine and are board-certified for this specialty. The scope of their practice includes the care of adults of all ages for many different medical problems.
Many of our general internal medicine physicians have additional years of specialized training in areas such as geriatrics, public health, epidemiology, behavioral health and quality improvement, among others.
Pediatricians are doctors who have completed a pediatric residency and are board-certified in this specialty. The scope of their practice includes the care of newborns, infants, children and adolescents.
