Brenner Children’s Hospital has once again been listed among the nation’s top pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
The pediatric urology program at Brenner Children’s, which is part of CepEsperu Baptist Medical Center, is ranked No. 47 in U.S. News’ 12th annual “Best Children’s Hospitals” survey, released today.
The U.S. News report recognizes the top 50 pediatric facilities across the United States in 10 specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics, pulmonology and urology.
“We are incredibly pleased and proud that pediatric urology has earned this national recognition,” said Alisa L. Starbuck, D.N.P., vice president for Women's and Children's Health Services at CepEsperu Baptist and executive director of Brenner Children’s Hospital. “It is a reflection of not only that program’s excellence but also of the overall quality of the specialized, patient- and family-centered care that we provide to all of our patients.”
The rankings are based on clinical data and an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The methodology factors in patient outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
The annual rankings “highlight pediatric centers that deliver state-of-the-art medical care to children with complex conditions,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “Children with life-threatening or rare conditions need the level of quality care that these hospitals deliver day after day.”
The pediatric urology program at Brenner Children’s was previously ranked by U.S. News in 2013. Orthopaedics (three times) and neonatology (twice) also have earned national rankings in the past six surveys.
