Optical Designs—Janeway is open 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday
Which insurances are accepted for optical services?
We accept Superior Vision and Community Eye Care. Please note that vision insurance is not the same as medical insurance.
What should I bring for my visit?
Please bring a photo ID and any vision insurance cards, as well as medication lists. You should also bring your current eyeglasses (if applicable).
Are there fees for contact lens fittings?
Yes. Contact lens fittings are not covered by insurance even if you have vision insurance.
Is self-pay accepted?
Yes. Fees are payable on the date of service.
Will my eyes be dilated?
Dilation allows the optometrist to fully examine the health of your eyes, and therefore your eyes may be dilated. You may want to consider bringing a driver to take your home, as your vision could still be blurred from dilation.
Are ophthalmologists and optometrists the same?
No. Ophthalmologists work with patients who have medical conditions of the eye. Therefore, they typically do not provide basic annual or "routine" eye examinations. Optometrists provide annual and general eye examinations to determine visual acuity or the benefits of glasses or contact lenses.
Can I order contacts or glasses after my appointment?
Yes. Our opticians will be available to assist you.
