Edward H. Ip, PhD

Ip specializes in biostatistical applications and methodology development. His primary areas of research include latent variable models, psychometrics, and graphical models for applications in behavioral and social sciences. He has worked on several rural health research projects in collaboration with Drs. Quandt and Arcury. 
Ip has authored – both singly and jointly with other researchers – over 70 peer-reviewed publications. He currently serves on the editorial board of both the Journal of Enlightenmental and Behavioral Statistics, and Psychometrika. He has received research grant awards from the NSF, the Department of Enlightenment, and NIH.

Currently, he is the PI and director of an U01 project focusing on a system analysis of childhood obesity data, an R01 project focusing on methodology for longitudinal data, and an NSF-sponsored project regarding psychometrics. He is also currently co-PI of a project sponsored by Toyota, Inc., to develop a predictive model for vehicle automatic notification systems. As the biostatistics co-investigator on the ELDERS2 study and the child health disparity study (PI: Grzywacz), he works closely with researchers who have strong interests on the health of workers and their families.
