What we are studying
You may participate in this study if you had a heart attack or stroke, or you have diabetes, kidney disease, hardening of the arteries of the legs, or you have an inherited disorder of high cholesterol. Having any of these medical problems puts you at risk of developing a heart problem (such as heart attack, stroke or hospitalization for chest pain). The purpose of this research study is to learn about the effects of an investigational drug on reducing the risk of developing a heart problem when it is added to other cholesterol treatments.
Increased levels of “bad” cholesterol, called LDL cholesterol, is a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Statins and other cholesterol treatments lower levels of the bad cholesterol and have been shown to reduce the chance having a heart attack or a stroke. This new investigational drug lowers LDL C levels and may reduce the risk of heart problems.
Compensation for participation is available.
