Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit
The Section on Critical Care in the Department of
Anesthesiology cares for patients in the 22-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care
Unit. In the Cardiovascular Intensive
Care Unit we can provide state of the art care for patients suffering from
complicated heart disease.
We care for patients after heart surgery or major chest
surgery and we assist our Heart Failure team in providing care for their patients
in the Intensive Care Unit.
Our physicians are all board certified in Critical Care. They lead our team of skilled nurse
practitioners and physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory
therapists to provide care for you or your loved one. A member of our team is available 24/7 in the
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
Our ICUs have open visitation, except for 6 am – 7 am and 6
pm – 7pm each day. While our rooms are
private, they can easily become crowded, so we do ask that you limit visitors
to two in the room at one time.
The monitoring equipment and support machines can make the intensive
care unit (ICU) a noisy and confusing place.
We are happy to explain our plan of care to you and your family, and to
make your stay as stress free as possible.
