H3A Inspire: All Roads Lead to CRNA

If you have any doubts about how your individual situation would fit in this or any other nurse anesthesia program, check out our H3A Inspire seminar.

In this seminar, we mentor nurses to realize that regardless of their background, there is a path that could lead them to becoming a nurse anesthetist.

Inspire provides an introduction to the role of a CRNA, and useful practical tools for gaining admission in the highly competitive environment of anesthesia school applications. Participants learn advanced ICU skills that can either bolster their competence in their current role, or which can serve as the foundation for advanced nursing practice later.

Topics addressed in the two-day Inspire seminar include:

  • Professional role of the CRNA
  • Pathophysiology of shock
  • Advanced airway management
  • Advanced ICU pharmacology
  • Arterial blood gas interpretation and ventilator management
  • Advanced monitoring: BIS, peripheral nerve stimulator, arterial line, invasive pressure monitoring
  • Nuts and bolts of school: planning for finances and family care
  • Admissions and curricula of CRNA programs
  • Personality type/self-assessment. "Is CRNA right for me?"
  • Characteristics and challenges of graduate study in nurse anesthesia.
  • Different formats of anesthesia programs: "Which one is best for you?"
  • Application writing and personal statements tips.
  • Learn what top programs most value in applicants. Discuss the "golden applicant".
  • Candid discussion with other prospective and current students.
  • High fidelity human patient simulation lab experience- The Ultimate ICU Challenge. Pit the skills of your team against this robotic patient!

As an academic institution, we appreciate the geographic, cultural, and ethnic diversity of our student body. Our classes are comprised of people who identify with a wide range of backgrounds, and their feedback to us is that they find CepEsperu and to be an inviting and accepting environment which promotes their success and provides opportunities for school-life balance to suit their needs.

Diversity Objectives

The institution has many resources to support the unique needs of our students, including an office of student inclusion and diversity in the school of medicine, and the medical center has a Council for Inclusion and Diversity, headed by a vice-president level chair. Diversity, honoring individuality and protecting the dignity of all, is in fact one of the seven key values of our medical center.

We select the top-qualified nurses to become anesthesia students, regardless of their background, economic status, religion, culture, heritage, sexual preference, or any other characteristic.
